RON BECK

Mr. Beck has practiced his entire legal career with Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin and Harrison. He was named partner in 1983. Mr. Beck specializes in personal injury, real estate, and business litigation cases, trying numerous successful cases including jury cases, court cases, and binding arbitrations. Mr. Beck is also a managing partner of the firm and manages the day to day activates such as oversee cases, employees, and financial matters.

Mr. Beck received the American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Procedure in 1976, and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity. He was a member of the Board of Governors of Consumer Attorneys of California. In 2014 and 2015 Ron Beck was named Super Lawyer, a distinction only 5% of Southern California Attorneys are awarded.

Mr. Beck is admitted to practice law before the California Supreme Court, United States District Court, and United States Court of Appeals.

ELLEN R. SERBIN

Ms. Serbin received her B.A. degree from Pitzer College in 1981 and her Juris Doctor degree from University of San Diego School of Law in 1986. She was admitted to the bar in California and Arizona in 1987 and has been practicing law since 1987. In November of 1987, Ms. Serbin was hired as an associate by the Perona, Langer firm and in 1996 became a principal of the law firm.

Ms. Serbin has a diverse litigation practice representing clients in State and Federal court in the areas of appellate law, employment discrimination and wrongful termination, real estate fraud, construction defects, insurance bad faith and inverse condemnation.

In addition to her trial experience, Ms. Serbin has handled in excess of 70 appeals, writs and petitions for review before various appellate courts including the California Supreme Court of Appeal, California Court of Appeal, Arizona Court of Appeal and Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. Many of the appeals she has researched, written and argued have resulted in published opinions including Rosencrans v. Dover Images, Ltd, 192 Cal. App. 4th 1072 (2011), County of San Bernardino v. Calderon, 148 Cal.App.4th 1103 (2007), Plut v. Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, 85 Cal.App.4th 98 (2000), Pruyn v. Agricultural Ins. Co., 36 Cal.App.4th 500 (1995), and Rivera v. Sassoon, 39 Cal.App.4th 1045 (1995).

On February 15, 2015, Ellen R. Serbin was certified as an Appellate Law Specialist by the California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California.

TODD H. HARRISON

Mr. Harrison is the Managing Partner of the Employment Law Division at PLBSH. He primarily focuses his practice on workplace harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims, overtime and minimum wage claims, class actions, whistle-blower claims and wrongful terminations.

Mr. Harrison has represented thousands of employees against some of the biggest companies and corporations in the nation. He has obtained millions of dollars in settlements, verdicts and judgments for injured employees and consumers.

Mr. Harrison is admitted to practice law in California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Harrison is a member of the Consumer Attorney Association of Los Angeles, California Employment Lawyers Association, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, Employment Law Section.

Todd H. Harrison has been named by Law & Politics, in conjunction with the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine, a Southern California Rising Star Super Lawyer in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, a distinction given to 2.5% of Southern California lawyers who are either under 40 years of age or have been in practice for less than 10 years. From 2015-2018, Todd was named a Super Lawyer, a distinction only 5% of Southern California Attorneys are awarded.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Harrison was a two-time Emmy Award winning television broadcaster. For nearly nine years, he was involved in some of the country’s biggest news and entertainment stories, interviewing everyone from the President of the United States and other world leaders to celebrities and professional athletes.

Mr. Harrison is committed to fighting employers who take advantage of their workers. He believes in leveling the playing field and giving everyone who has been damaged a voice in the justice system.

ALVIN CHANG

Mr. Chang joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin and Harrison in 2007. His practice areas include serious personal injury and business litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chang worked at a boutique plaintiffs’ firm representing workers injured from occupational exposure to toxic chemicals. Mr. Chang has extensive experience in litigation, including law and motion, depositions, and mediation. He has also successfully litigated cases before the California Courts of Appeal.

Mr. Chang is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California. Mr. Chang is also a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and Consumer Attorneys of California.

BRENNAN S. KAHN

Mr. Kahn has been an active Plaintiff’s litigator in the counties of San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Kern, Sonoma and Contra Costs for several years. Prior to joining the law firm of Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin and Harrison in 2009, Mr. Kahn was admitted to the California Bar in December 2008 after obtaining his Juris Doctorate in May 2008 from the University San Diego School of Law. Before entering law school, Mr. Kahn received a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology in May 2005 from the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology with the intent of using his skills as a clinically trained therapist to assist his career in law.

Mr. Kahn is admitted to practice in all California State Courts, the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central District Federal Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. His practice is primarily centered in employment law, but also includes business litigation, contract formation, intellectual property, and business formation and structure. He also routinely performs pro bono work for a variety of destitute clients who need his assistance. Mr. Kahn is experienced in all matters of litigation including law and motion, depositions, mediation, arbitration, administrative proceedings, and trial. While he has successfully prosecuted claims up through final verdict, he also had also acquired millions upon millions of dollars in settlements for the benefit of his many clients.

Mr. Kahn is also currently a member of a variety of professional legal organizations including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Consumer Advocate Attorneys of Los Angeles, and California Employment Lawyers Association, among others. In the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, Mr. Kahn was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, a distinction given to fewer than 2.5% of attorneys in California. Inclusion as a Rising Star is limited to attorneys under the age of 40 or have been practicing law for fewer than 10 years.

ERIC N. SCHWARTZ

Mr. Schwartz is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation division. He has successfully tried hundreds of cases and obtained millions of dollars for his clients in both negotiated settlements and judicial verdicts.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Sociology from the University of Southern California in 2003 and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in 2007. He is the author of “U.S Security Strategy: Empowering Kim Jong-il?”, published in the 2008 Loyola International Law Journal.

Prior to joining Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin & Harrison Law Firm, Mr. Schwartz taught English in Japan and worked as in-house attorney for Sempra Energy. He enjoys sports and roots for USC football, Kansas basketball, the Lakers, and Chelsea.

JERRY C. CHANG

Jerry Chang is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Worker’s Compensation department and a Certified Worker’s Compensation Specialist by the California State bar. Jerry frequently serves as Judge Pro Tem at the Long Beach Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board.

Jerry joined the firm in 2010 after practicing extensively in contract and real estate law. Jerry received his B.S in Business Administration and Cinema Television from the University of Southern California and J.D. from Loyola Law School, receiving full academic scholarships for both institutions. As a seasoned litigator, Jerry has extensive expertise in all aspects of Worker’s Compensation law. His successful track record in obtaining considerable trial results and settlements is evident, as he has recovered over $75,000,000.00 for his clients in the past ten years. As a member of CAAA and CAALA, Jerry looks forward to advancing and advocating the rights of injured workers.

WILLIAM CARR

Mr. Carr focuses his practice on securing Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation benefits for his clients. Prior to joining PLBSH in 2012, he was a Supervising Attorney and Associate Director with a national Social Security Disability law firm. He is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) and has helped secure Social Security benefits for hundreds of disabled clients.

Mr. Carr received his juris doctorate from Loyola Law School in 2010 where he was a member of the Public Interest Law Foundation. During law school, he spent his time volunteering and clerking in the public interest sector with a focus on helping under-served communities in the greater Los Angeles area. Mr. Carr received his bachelors degree from Emory University in 2005, graduating with High Honors. As an undergraduate, he was a member of the Varsity Baseball team and was named a Second Team All-American and South Region Pitcher of the year.

PATRICK HAWKINS

Mr. Hawkins joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin & Harrison in 2013. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English from the University of California, Davis. In addition to being a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Honor Society, he wrote for the student newspaper and completed two student internship programs in Washington DC. The two internship programs consisted of him working at the White House and conducting legal research for a prominent Capitol Hill think tank.

Mr. Hawkins went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. During law school he was a member of the Bryne Trial Advocacy Team, Loyola’s nationally ranked competitive mock trial team. He also completed conflict resolution and mediation training at Loyola’s Center for Conflict Resolution where he performed mediation and conciliation pro bono legal services for members of the greater Los Angeles community.

LEONARD RETTER

Mr. Retter joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin & Harrison in 2014, focusing exclusively on representing injured workers in workers’ compensation claims. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Sociology from the College of William and Mary. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern Law School where he obtained a certification in legal research by Westlaw and LexisNexis.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Retter interned for the Honorable Judge Stuart M. Rice of the Los Angeles Superior Court as well as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where he handled a variety of complex civil and securities litigation matters.

Mr. Retter is a member of the American Bar Association, the California Applicant’s Attorneys Association, and the South Bay Inns of Court, among others. He is also a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for pro bono legal services rendered on behalf of the poor or disadvantaged. In his experience as an Applicant’s Attorney, Mr. Retter has represented injured workers against some of the largest Fortune 500 companies, successfully negotiating constructive settlements or obtaining favorable results at trial.

Mr. Retter is fluent in Russian and, in his spare time, enjoys listening to music, exploring new places and taking photos.

JON DODART

Mr. Dodart joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin and Harrison in 2016, and exclusively works on securing Workers’ Compensation benefits for his clients. Mr. Dodart graduated Cum Laude from law school, and focused his legal education on trial and appellate litigation, serving as President of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dodart’s practice was intensely focused on civil litigation and criminal prosecution. While working for the United States Department of Labor-Employee Benefits Security Administration, he helped investigate and prosecute various violations of ERISA, including a $71 million dollar fraud case, garnering national media attention. In recognition of his advocacy for employee benefits, Mr. Dodart received a commendation from the Director of the F.B.I., the US Dept. of Labor Agency Award for Excellence and the United States Attorneys Office Law Enforcement award. As a Senior Associate Attorney with the firm, Mr. Dodart has secured millions of dollars in outcomes for his clients, and was recently awarded Southern California’s Super Lawyer Rising Star Award for 2020.

Mr. Dodart is admitted to the State Bar of California, and certified to appear before the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. He is also a proud member of CAAA, CAALA, and the Los Angeles and Orange County Bar Association.

Jennifer S. Baskaron

Prior to practicing law, Ms. Baskaron received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California Riverside. She clerked at a family law firm for two years before attending law school. During her time in law school, she was active in the Immigration Law Clinic and joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin, Harrison as a law clerk in the summer of 2016.

Ms. Baskaron was admitted to the California Bar in December 2017 after obtaining her Juris Doctorate in May 2017 from Western State College of Law.

Robert Skrinyaz

Mr. Skrinyaz received his BA at the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus, with a major in Public and Community Service, and graduated summa cum laude. He subsequently obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law, received a merit-based scholarship and actively participated in on-campus and off-campus student life. These activities included volunteering for the Public Law Center’s Immigration and Naturalization Screening Fair, and executive board and volunteer positions in numerous student organizations, including: American Constitution Society, Diversity and Social Justice Forum, National Lawyers Guild, Health Law Society, and Immigration Law Society. Mr. Skrinyaz externship positions included: OC Lawyer Magazine and the Self-Help desk at the Lamoreaux Justice Center. Mr. Skrinyaz spent a summer studying international law at the Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge, earned five CALI awards, and graduated with honors and dual emphases in Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Law.

Edward C. Hinojos

A proud son of California’s Central San Joaquin Valley, Edward graduated from Fresno State in 2012 with a B.A. in Political Science. Since the inception of his legal career Edward has worked exclusively for the rights of injured workers in the field of Workers’ Compensation.

Prior to joining the team at PLBSH, Edward worked at another firm advocating for the rights of injured workers. Edward has been with the PLBSH since 2018. Like the rest of the staff at PLBSH, he shares a passion for defending the rights of injured workers throughout Southern California.

When not working on behalf of injured workers, Edward enjoys spending quality time with family and is a passionate life-long fan of the Dodgers.

Rafick Issagholian

Rafick Issagholian joined Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin and Harrison in 2020, and works exclusively on Workers’ Compensation claims. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Issagholian was a civil litigation trial attorney fighting for injured clients in a variety of personal injury matters including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, roadway defect, products liability and dog bite cases.

Mr. Issagholian has taken and defended over a hundred depositions including those of defendants, expert witnesses, corporate and government employees, and persons most knowledgeable. He has extensive experience with law and motion, regularly prevailing on various discovery motions and other pre-trial, trial, and post-trial related matters.

Mr. Issagholian understands – and knows how to prove — the range of injuries which can arise through accidents and trauma. In addition to traumatic brain injuries, he has obtained compensation for a wide range of injuries from strains and sprains, broken bones, burn injuries to spinal cord injuries involving nerves, discs, facets, and other pain generators, complex regional pain, damage to internal organs, and other unique and complicated medical conditions.

Mr. Issagholian obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Northridge. Thereafter, he attended Whittier Law School where he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board. He also served as a Certified Law Clerk for the respective White Collar Crime Units of the California Department of Justice – Office of the Attorney General and San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

Melissa Brandman

Melissa Brandman represents clients on employment law matters involving discrimination and harassment in the workplace based on sex, race, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and age as well as retaliation, wage and hour, whistleblower and wrongful terminations.

Prior to joining Perona Langer, Beck, Serbin, Harrison Ms. Brandman worked as a civil litigation attorney, crafting legal strategies and managing the legal representation of clients on a number of matters including employment law, real estate and contract disputes.
