The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Shipbuilding Research Program, and the Shipbuilders Council of America have teamed up in an effort to reduce and prevent on the job injuries for shipbuilders. The groups are focusing their efforts to address worker injuries attributed to on-the-job hazards, including collision, electric, ergonomic, and slip and fall hazards.

The groups’ alliance will be for two years, in which time they will create best practices promoting a safe and healthy work environment. It will also attempt to reduce trip and fall accidents by participating in OSHA’s fall prevention initiative. OSHA forms alliances with numerous groups to promote worker safety. Businesses, unions, consulates, professional organizations, and other groups have played a part in OSHA’s efforts to reduce workplace injuries through compliance and education.
